I know I've been MIA for awhile, sorry about that. I'll get to the dusting soon, promise!
Christmas at my house was fantastic! Santa was good to everyone so I guess that means we were all good this year. (Ha ha, I think Santa forgot to check that list...but I'll never tell him)
Bossman took the week off. So from Christmas eve until now, he's been home.
We did a lot of hanging out. We watched a lot of movies and ate a lot of food. We had thought of taking a drive to the snow. See, in my part of the world, if we want to see snow, we actually have to drive a couple of hours. Instead, we decided to have a staycation. A staycation meant, we stayed around our area or hung out at home. Not only was this good for gas mileage, it was just plain fun!
So, instead of going to the snow, we headed to the beach. Last weekend saw Bossman and myself alone. We had been in the house for days and we were ready for some fresh air! We went to a beach that we hadn't been to in while. It was beautiful. Although the thermometer in the said it was 62, it really felt like lower 70's. The sun was shining and it was one of the rare days when there was no wind. The water was so clear that when we got to the end of the pier, we looked down and could see the fish swimming in the water. Aaaaahhhhh, THIS is why I live here!
After walking the pier, I felt the need to send a picture to two of my favorite people. (Sorry Ceeci, I didn't have your number in my phone!) Don't you just love the whole picture messaging on cell phones? How did we ever get along without them? I wasn't about to feel guilty about it, as they were getting ready to hang out together and I was feeling very left out.
A few days later, we had the little man with us and we decide to head to another beach. It was New years Day and there were a lot of tourist out and about. As the little man and I were waiting for Bossman to pay for parking, a man showed up riding a Segway. The man gave us a demonstration and let the little man try it. At first, it looks like it's going to be hard to balance, but...it's not.
We didn't have a lot of time that day, as friends were expecting us at their house for dinner. We had planned to go to the snow the next day. That evening, we took a vote and decided we didn't want to go to the snow, we wanted to go back to the beach and rent a Segway.

(me, on a segway.)
Oh my.....it was such fun! Those things can move pretty fast and because they are fairly new at this beach, everyone was staring. We rode up and down the beach, right next to the water....it was fantastic! We are all in agreement that the segways were WAY funner than the snow! (Is funner a word?)
Needless to say, I have had a splendid holiday season! Don't tell the twins but can you believe that my son doesn't have to go back to school for another week? So even though Bossman has to go back to work, I still get another week to sleep in!
I hope you all had a great holiday season! I hope 2009 is the best year yet! But, my biggest hope? I hope Ceeci and the twins come and visit me!
Oh the fun we could have!
Doesn't have to go back for another week!! What's with you people anyway? Grrrrr...... That's only for your school system. I must like you an awful lot becaues even with the taunting pictures I'm glad you had such a good holiday and that you got to spend time with Bossman.
ReplyDeleteI think it's high time we all got together too. Right coast or left doesn't really matter.
Hugs,
PK
I'm happy to hear you had such a great holiday after all the Thanksgiving stuff. Hope the new year is as wonderful. :)
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I didn't know you could rent Segways! WANT! Glad your Christmas was great; Dan just went back to work today and I'm back at work too, blech. Oh well! Could be worse, could be NO work at all and that would be bad.
ReplyDelete(Want to rent a segway too, wahhh!)
Grace, glad that you had such a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteMay the new year be just as good.
Love and warm hugs,
Paul.
Hi Grace:
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you and your family had a great "staycation". I didn't know you could rent segways either, it looks like so much fun..that is a great picture. What I wouldn't do for 70's weather rite now. And you have another week to sleep in?....You're a lucky lucky girl. What a great way to start out the new year.
Take Care,
Andrades Girl
Happy New Year! :-)
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome you had such a good time. They do look like fun. We can rent them and tour downtown but I can't do it right now.
ReplyDeleteYour lucky you have another week off. I went back today.
Jean
Thanks for all the warm wishes!
ReplyDeleteIf you can stand, you can use a segway! THAT's how easy it is. I thought it was going to be hard, but a couple before us was getting theirs and...
Well, they were probably in their 70's. The man looked so old I didn't even think he could walk...but he could AND he could use a segway! Oh they are so much fun...I want to do it again!
HUGS!
