Having your own house is fantastic but moving SUCKS! (and not in a good way)
We've lived in our rental for 8 years. The carpet is 19 years old. You don't realize how dirty you are until to take everything out of a room...or a whole house. We are freaking dirty people! I am disgusted at how much dirt we were living with and didn't even notice!
Luckily, we don't have to clean the carpet or do much to the walls, as they will be painting and replacing carpet.
As for the new house...it's great! It's full of stuff and I am so overwhelmed I don't quite know where to begin. I can't seem to make the furniture work the way I want it...so everything is sort of haphazardly placed until I can take the time to fully think about it.
One of our dressers was old and someone fell on top of a stack of drawers and they all BROKE....so I have clothes scattered everywhere...I'm not sure what we are planning on doing about that!
Other than that....we are still alive! Thank goodness I have a full week to clean the old place...I've been going there everyday and doing a little scrubbing...fun fun fun!
Oh and guess how we introduced ourselves to the new neighbors? We had the little man crash his bike in the middle of the street! That happened yesterday and THANK goodness he didn't get hit by a car. The little man was down the street when it happened and Bossman was out working in the garage when a neighbor comes running down the street, asking if he was the little mans father. Bossman takes a look down the street and sees the little man sprawled across the road. And people holding up his head. He thought the little man had been hit by a car. I was at the store and I got the frantic call to come home immediately! I got another call a few minutes later saying the little man was fine but was pretty banged up!
He's fine, just some road rash on his left side of his body...head, shoulder, hand and knee! Poor kid!
Oh, I don't recommend that method of introductions. Going to the door with cookies would probably be a better choice!
Anyway, that's what's going on in my world....now I better get going I gotta go clean or unpack something!

Awww, Grace! Poor little lad! And what a shock for you all....relieved it wasn't as bad as it must have seemed at the time!
ReplyDeleteNothing like arriving with a BANG!
I pray your new home will be a haven of peace, happiness, comfort and tranquillity, and you will all feel 'at home' there very quickly.
God bless you all, Daisy, xxxxxxxxx
Grace, glad to hear that the Little Man is OK, boys fall of bikes, it's one of the hazards of boyhood.
ReplyDeleteMoving is said to be the second most stressful event in life, marriage or a close family member dying is the first.
You seen to be coping very well, though to you it doesn't seem so.
Good to hear from you, take care.
Love and warm hugs,
Paul.
Hey Grace, it's lovely of you to up date us I was wondering how you were getting on.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear your Little Man is fine.
Paul's right moving is said to be the second most stressful event.
Your'll get there and everything will be just how you want it.
Love.
Ronnie

Thank goodness boys bounce! I'm sure he fine. I hope you and Bossman recover from your fright just as quickly.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are surviving the move. I know what you mean about the carpet. When we saw the kids carpets with no furniture covering things up I said it look liked they had been slaughtering animals in their rooms!
I know you are stressed but really its a good kind of stress that eventually will have a beautiful and worthwhile conclusion - like having a baby!
Get my room ready I'll be there before you know it!
hugs,
PK
Hi Grace,
ReplyDeleteGlad to here things are going well with your move. I've told my husband never again ~ or at least not until we can afford to hire people to do it all for us ;)
Glad your little man is okay. Maybe not the ideal way to meet the neighbors, but now you know they pay attention to neighborhood activities. 5 years later we really don't know ours.
You'll be settled before you know it. Keep us posted.
*hugs*
Robin
Your house looks awesome! You must be so happy. Hope you got the Rock Band set up first. ;P
ReplyDeleteWhat a way to meet your neighbours. Your heart must have been in your mouth when you saw the poor boy lying in the street.
ReplyDeleteThat termite tent is much more tasteful. We have green bins exactly like the one in the picture. Small (green) world.
Hugs,
Hermione
Congrats on your move! yes moving sucks but it is nice to kind of start from scratch in a way. hopefully everything gets arranged soon and comes together how you want it. i'm also glad that little man is ok...thank goodness that kids are resilient. take care!
ReplyDeleteHi Grace,
ReplyDeleteSo happy your neighbors were filled with concern. Glad he escaped with what he did! Poor Bossman - terrifying day of dadhood. Yuck on the old dirt Yeah to the new dirt! The chaos will flesh out soon - hang in there. How fun will it be to have your new home for the (dare I mention it - holiDAZE). Goodluck with the logistics. My best, KayLynn
Glad the little man is ok. My son had a bike not too long ago. My heart stopped and was still concerned a day later...him...he was already back on the bike... :-)
