Christian domestic discipline

This article  was posted on Facebook by a friend of mine. The article talks about Christian domestic discipline.  The article itself isn't that bad, but the comments left behind are horrible.

What do you think about domestic discipline the Christian blanket? I think the comments would not have been so harsh had they just talked about domestic discipline and had left the Christian part out of it.

Personally, I feel like if you have two consenting adults then there should be no problem. What people do behind closed doors is their business.

Please read this article and tell me what you think, because right now, the world thinks we are nuts!

  1. I think you mean "discipline", not 'disciple". Autocorrect strikes again!

  2. Davey and I are christians, AND we do DD. But we don't do DD BECAUSE we are christians.
Nowhere in the Bible does it advocate spanking wives, lol, and it DOES make christians look silly if we claim that, imho. It is twisting Gods Holy Word, to suit/justify one's actions.
We use DD because we WANT to, and because we feel it pulls us closer together, and keeps a structure in our marriage, not because we claim it is God's will. xxx

    1. I just watched the View and they talked about this article. Of course they were not supportive. BUT....I think they were more bothered about the Christian part, than the spanking part.

  3. I took my blog private for the time being, just because I use mine and Nick's real first names. I can just see some of my facebook friends coming across the article one place or another, doing some research on "these crazy DD people" and ending up finding my blog. There's enough identifying info on there to make us recognizable to people who know us in real life, and I sure don't need that drama! To be honest, as a Christian who practices DD, I get pretty annoyed myself who claim that God commands it in the Bible. I don't think it's in opposition to His plan for marital structure, but I certainly don't think it's something He requires!

    Hugs,
    Tracy

  5. Grace, I happened upon your blog and have enjoyed reading a few of your posts. I'm a Christian man in my 50's. When I married I promised to love, honor and obey - yes obey - my wife. I am a submissive man. I wonder if I mentioned this on facebook what kind of responses I'd get. And yes, I've grappled with this from a scriptural perspective and believe that the Bible is about sin, redemption and salvation - so much more that it is with who obeys who and how a couple lives their lives privately. Thanks for sharing an interesting topic.
