Friday was the last day school for the little man. That means it's officially summer in my house. I would do the happy dance, but then I would just get ridiculed for doing the happy dance when school starts again. I've decided that I enjoy summer starting, but I enjoy when school starts again. Summer means less spankings, less time to ourselves, but it seems that this will be the year when my son will be home a lot less, so I have a feeling spankings will still happen.
Bossman and I are in a place right now were we are getting on each others nerves. We have different opinions on just about everything. It doesn't help that I have been PMSing and kind of cranky. It doesn't help that he is annoyed with anything that has to do with the wildchild. I hate when we are at this point in our lives, but I also know that it's not something that will last. We will get back to ourselves soon enough. I just hope it's soon, all this tension is tiring. I think part of the tension has to do with how much spanking is going on. When there isn't much spanking, the tension seems to be higher. He did give me a small spanking last week, with the dreaded BS for walking too far ahead of him when we go to the store. I know this bugs him. It's a bad habit I have. I get impatient and I don't wait for him. Sometimes he takes a long time to get out of the car, but I still shouldn't walk so far ahead. The spanking was taken the way it was intended, I got the point. I usually do when the BS is used. I'm hoping there will be more of that in my future. Not just the spanking part, although, that was good, or bad, whichever way you look at it, but the part where we discuss things that upset us and work it out in a timely fashion. Next time we went to the store, I was much more conscience about how I treated him. I didn't leave him in the dust, I waited patiently for him and held his hand and it was much nicer. SEE, just goes to show, spankings can work...haha!
Hopefully we'll get back to that and have less tension around here.
In other news...
I'm very excited about our upcoming vacation. We are leaving the children home and going off on our own. We are meeting some friends that we haven't seen for awhile and I'm SO excited about that. I love my kids, but give me some grown-up time and I am a happy camper!
Next weekend we are heading to a Dodger game. After not being able to attend last year, the wildchild and I are extremely excited to be going. PLUS, after the game there is going to be a Hollywood Stars softball game. I don't know who all is playing, but I think I'm looking forward to that more than the Dodgers...
So, what's new in your life? What are your plans for the summer?
Hey Grace,
ReplyDeleteI know you are happy about summer and the the beginning of schools both are exciting times. I even like the first week of school - it's the rest of the year that is so draining for me.
I hope things relax with the Wildchild and Bossman. We have that to a small extend with Nick and LJ and it is a crappy feeling! You are right it will improve, just in time for it to start again with your son, sorry about that.
So when do we get to know where you are going?? Where are the kids staying - MIL??
You tell Bossman to give you a few licks for me if you walk ahead again. Nick does that and depending on my mood can really hurt my feelings.
Enjoy the game and be sure to tell us all the stars you see!
Hugs,
PK
Bossman Happy Fathers Day to you!
ReplyDeleteMy summer will be spent doing a little fishing. I have a small vegetable plot to take care of and there is Mthc to spank. The Capital Beltway has less traffic on it which means I get home sooner to spend a little more time with the family.
*hugs and grins*
Grace, I also walk ahead at the store. It starts at the car when Joe parks and then wants to open his pepsi and take a drink before getting out. He had the same pepsi for the entire drive and doesn't touch it. As soon as we park, then he has to open it and take a drink. I just get out and start for the store. He catches up and then we walk together.
ReplyDeleteI remember the feeling when school was out for my kids. I loved it. I actually hated when school started again. It meant driving the kids every morning and then picking them up and spending evenings doing homework. Yup, summer was a good thing.
Enjoy your vacation. It sounds wonderful.
Hugs,
Lori
Grace, yes parents and older teenagers, it's a boundaries thing claiming their independence.
ReplyDeleteThey will sort it, though it's uncomfortable while it's happening.
At that stage in her life my eldest niece would turn up at my door, she had to phone her mom and then she could stay.
Hope that you and Bossman had a great fathers day, and you got a nice good girl.
Love and warm hugs,
Paul.
Yeah, RIGHT Pk, Like I'm leaving the kids with the MIL. I don't think so.
ReplyDeleteAs for where we are going.....I think I'll leave you hanging for awhile. Maybe I'll have a contest, see who can guess!
David, your summer sounds Heavenly! Fishing and spanking....can't ask for more than that!
Lori, Summer is great for no homework and less driving, but I also like my free time, and I don't get much of that with kids running around my house all day!
Paul, I know you're right, this too shall pass, and boy do I wish I would get a good girl, that would be nice!
HUGS!

I need a vacation too. No big road trip for us this year. I'm kind of bummed about that however we are taking a plane trip. More about that later. At any rate, I hope your vacation is all you are wanting it to be.
ReplyDeletehugs~

Tension and marriage...they go together like a horse and carriage? *laughs*
ReplyDeleteOur latest tension breaking fuss/argument/whatever was horrible yet lovely in the long run. We are so close right now...but damn we had to really burst out with all kinds of ugliness to get here. Why is that? Dunno...glad to be here, though! :)
Have GREAT FUN on your vaca! :)
Our plans for the summer?
Plotzing. Lots of. :)
Hi Grace! Sorry there is tension in your life right now but it will all work itself out. Summer will start for us in a week. I am looking forward to it. We are going on our first family vacation away...not far but we will be staying over night with the kids and I think we will have lots of fun...they are at the age when everything is exciting to them... :-) Hope you have a great vacation. Grown Up time is always important. :-) Please take care, Terpsichore
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about men? Will takes forever to get out of the car too.
ReplyDeleteWill is already planning a Dodgers game when we go visit Michael...of course who knows when that will be, probably graduation!
Michael has seen the Dodgers at some big anniversary game or something.
I was the same about school and summer. I could sleep later!
Happy summer!
Huggs!
Theresa
Our big summer vacation is already done. We hit disneyland with the kids before all the California kids were done with school. It was still crowded, but we got enough rides and had lots of fun. But now, we are just going to pass the long, hot days with a few chores in the morning and then little activities like trips to the park, pool, playing with friends, etc. It's all centered around the kids which is just where my life is right now. I am not a slowpoke, but I frequently am the one left in the dust. If I really want to go shopping, my husband needs to stay home. :) Not sure what the BS is, but I hope you don't see it tooooo much this summer.
ReplyDeleteSmiles-
Marie
