Lots of things in one post

This post will probably be all over the board. So, please, bear with me!

First on the list, I would like to wish Evas' husband, Adam, a Very Happy Birthday! I hope your day has been great, and feel free to give Eva all the birthday spankings she deserves....of course, then you have to tell us all about it!!!

Next, I would like to thank you all for your comments over the last couple of days. I haven't had a chance to answer them all. I remember now why I don't post every day! HA! Actually, the anniversary was nice. We went out to dinner at our favorite steak house. We stuffed ourselves like pigs and talked about lots of STUFF! Only down side? I had a huge piece of tri-tip left and I saved it.....then forgot it on the table! GRRRRRR......I was going to have that for lunch today! We are having an even better celebration next Tuesday. Bossman has a client that happens to be the best hotel in the town. They just finished remodeling the best suite in the place, hot tub and all, and they are letting us stay in it for FREE!!!!! We wanted to do it this week, but between watching the baby and kids stuff, we had to wait until next week. This is our plan for that day... Being naked and never leaving the room!!!!! Doesn't get better than that.

Speaking of baby....my nephew is walking! He's barely 10 months old and I have to chase his little butt all over my house. My kids started walking this young too, but you know, it just doesn't seem right. This baby is entirely too small to be walking around. Where the heck does the time go? Frankly all babies should have to wear a helmet when learning to walk. It's dangerous business, this walking stuff.

As far as Bossman catching up on my blog. There have been LOTS of discussions. Nothing has happened yet, but we haven't really had any alone time either, so that could explain it. I've realized that just discussing it makes me HOT! Oh, don't get me wrong, I get very embarrassed and it's hard, but inside......wow!

Lets talk MIL for a minute. Couple of weeks ago we had a big argument. Long story short, she thought I talked trash about her and I thought she was a freak. Oh, wait, I still think she's a freak, but that's besides the point. Anyway, after a long and weird discussion, I finally figured out why she became....you know.

See, she feels like the people of our church have dissed her. I can't tell you the whole story, for that would take me weeks to type out, so lets just say, she doesn't get along with the people of our church. Instead of going somewhere new, she's decided that christianity as a whole is wrong. See, because a few, so called christians, treated her like crap, (her opinion, not mine) she has decided that christians as a whole are bad people. Of course, her whole family is christian, but she made it clear that it's not us, it's just them....to me that is laughable. How can you diss a whole religion but excuse your family?

Here's the bottom line for me. If you are going to believe in something....don't do it for the people. The people have nothing to do with it. If you are going to a church just for the people then what about the rest of it? I know, I know, church is a social thing. So, if you believe in the doctrine but hate the people, find ANOTHER church, not another religion. Basically she said that the ______ church had hurt her too badly. So, just because she hates the people at this church she changed her whole belief. Told me that people on the internet were WAY nicer to her than people at our church. Here's the problem with this.... The people on the internet don't KNOW her. They only know what she writes. If they knew this real-life, hateful person, they wouldn't be so kind to her. GET this....Everytime she gets mad at us, she deletes us from her myspace. Don't you wish that in real-life you could just delete someone? Oh what a world this would be. Rude cashier..delete. Slow drivers...delete. Rude customers....delete. Stupid MIL....DELETE!

So, enough about the MIL. She is a thorn in my side that just keeps jabbing away at me. My husband is just mad about the whole thing. Neither of us want to be around her and frankly I find it hard to feel bad about it. The only thing that bugs me is the kids. My daughter had such a great relationship with her grandparents and my son doesn't get that same thing. I feel bad for him. I'm so sorry that he has to miss out on that, but it's not my fault and I know he'll be fine.

Speaking of my son and religion. The little man is getting baptized this weekend. When my daughter got baptized it was such a wonderful occasion. All the grandparents were there and we had such a nice time. Now, I don't know if anyone on Bossman's side will be there. My MIL said she would come to our church with her hajeeb (muslim scarf thingie) on. CAN you imagine? She hates all those people, but she would dare show up like that? I told her I thought that was a horrible idea. She would be taking the focus off my son and I don't like that, AT ALL!

Of course, and this is completely selfish on my part, I know, but HOW EMBARRASSING, for all of us, but mostly Bossman. If she shows up, I don't know what will happen. I do know Bossman will NOT be happy! So lets just hope she doesn't show up.

So, tell me what you would do in my situation. I LOVE to know others opinions. Just remember, I prefer if everyone do it NICELY!

  1. I think you are always right. You always make perfectly logical sense to me. Besides this day is about you guys, and your commitment to your beliefs...no one elses.

Also I totally agree with the grandparents thing. It is such a shame sometimes. I had no grandparents, NONE. But mine were gone by the time I came along. Michael had a great childhood with my parents.

I think I met your MIL today. Well I certainly met the meanest, saddest woman I have ever met. But I never left Georgia so it couldn't have been your MIL.

Well I just hope the little man's big day is a good one for all of you. Enjoy next Tuesday, and don't come crying to us if a belt enters into the day!

    Love you girl!

  2. Just focus on your little boy and his baptism and if your MIL shows up, be kind and Christian to her. Unless she makes some kind of yucky scene, and then you have your hubby help her OUT. Tell her you'd love for her to come in her hajeeb....then she won't get any satisfaction out of doing it to annoy you. Can't wait to hear the rest of this story....and any belt stories that might arise...
    Good luck! Marie

  3. Grace,
My first advice is for you and your nephew. First thing - tie his shoes together! It will slow him right down. Come to think of it that advice might work for your MIL too. At least it might be fun to watch.

Sadly children lose grandparents all the time. Some to death and other because the grandparent goes nuts. You have no control over either reason.

Sounds like you and Bossman are doing well and that is a great thing. Enjoy you little guy and his special day this weekend.

    Hugs,
    PK

  4. Grace, enjoy your little man's day and the commitment both you his parents and his godparents are making on his behalf.
Enjoy your night out, naked is good, nothing to get in the way of the good times, if Bossman uses the belt, first impressions please, or photo's will do. Chuckle.
Can't really say much about your MIL, we need to understand that at least 90% of Muslims are civilised and decent people.
We in the west have benefited greatly from Muslim philosophy and science. The Prophet Mohammad never advocated violence and war, any more than Christ advocated the Crusades.
Fanatics forget the teaching of their founders when they fall in love with their own egos and their aims are always self serving,
    political and never holy.
In she does come to the christening, welcome her and tell her how nice she looks, that should spike her guns.
Grace I don't have a record of how long I've been reading you, I know that it's more than two years, in all that time I have never seen anybody, not "do it nicely".
    Be well dear girl.
    Love and warm hugs,
    Paul

  6. Hey Grace
    LTNS!

Just did some quick catch up reading and sounds like you and Bossman are having the times of your lives! Keep it up! *g*

As for MIL, can't you sign her up for some kind of retreat weekend or something? That really would be a nice gesture. :)

    ~Hugs!

PS Mum's the word on 3/14.

  7. Ah, now I see what you meant about your MIL. Well, I think I said this last time you mentioned this but maybe not; anyway, it's really common for people to "fall" for others on the internet, even a group, even non-romantically. I joined a fanclub online for an actor I was gah-gah over in the mid-90's when we first got a computer. I got *sucked* in with these other women! Most of us were married and around the same age and I just thought they were fabulous! I really projected onto them and some of us even flew out and met at one woman's house in another state. Long story short, the "friend" I felt the closest to was really not how she had portrayed herself online. I don't think for a second she intended to fool me or anything. It's just that, when all you do is write each other, you can take your time and make sure everything is said just right. Not so easy in person.

It made me very thoughtful and when I came home, I sort of distanced myself from the group and from the couple of women I'd become "close" friends with. Nothing *bad* had happened...they just weren't who I thought they were, that's all.

Taught me a valuable lesson, though. You cannot ever really "know" someone over written correspondence alone. And you cannot "know" a religion by just reading words online either. Religion is made up of people; it really hasn't much to do with God. God is the same for all. But religion...if she is choosing this one because the online Muslims are "nicer", well...I would encourage her whenever possible to go meet with these Muslims she's met online if possible. Or at least start going to a mosque.

On the other hand, that advice doesn't jive with my overriding advice which is to ignore her except for being nice. When/if she shows up for the baptism, compliment her (as someone said above), smile, be nice. You don't have to gush over her, just be nice. If she starts to become negative about something upsetting, make an excuse to leave. If Little Man is there, take him with you.

Don't give her power over you and your life. You stay happy, you stay grounded, you enjoy your son's baptism, love your friends and family, love your church. You can't help her if she won't let you. Let's see, what's the phrase I learned...oh yes; Distance With Love. Practice seeing her in your mind's eye and holding her in your arm's as a Child of God. She's a little lost right now, yes? So when you see her, think of her with compassion. If her negativity overwhelms you, practice "Distance With Love".

You can DOOOOO it! hehehe :) No really, try it; it works. :)

Good luck and Happy Baptism! :)

  8. Sometimes, the dread of an event is actually far worse than the event itself. Quite honestly, if your MIL does show up in her 'Muslim scarf thingie' the people present aren't going to think any less of you or your family. Her behavior is hers and everyone there will know it. Focus on the most important person in the church... your son. It's his big day.

Now, where can I get one of those delete buttons you've written about? I'd like to install one in my car.

    *hugs
