So, I just got home from the hospital and things are looking better for the Wildchild. There was a scare of staph infection, so we were preparing for the worst. Luckily, we found out this evening that it wasn't staph!
I got to take a look at the ear and it looks pretty good. The doc told us it was bad, so we were very concerned, but after taking off the bandages, the doc said it looked great.
I'll try and tell the whole story soon, but for now, just know that things are looking up. She will probably be home tomorrow and will be home from work for at least a week, but after the scary stuff they first told us, that is NOTHING.

I am assuming you will be having your hair colored with in the next few days! If our kids aren't causing us to pull it all out they are sure turning it gray at a rapid pace.

ReplyDeleteIt's scary to stop and think how the medical world has pretty much ruined the effectiveness of antibiotics. In the 70's and 80's, even into the 90's, doctors handed out antibiotics like candy. Stuffy nose, slight ear ache, they'd even prescribe them over the phone.
The result has been that something like staph, which used to get knocked out in no time flat with one simple shot of antibiotics, like in HOURS, has become something much harder to fight and sometimes people die.
Some doctors still prescribe antibiotics without making sure it's absolutely necessary. ARgh, it makes me angry that they did not see this coming, that the bacteria would become more and more resistant. ARgh!

I just heard, Grace and I am so sorry that the Wildchild (and you) are going through all this mess! It's amazing that such bad things can happen from such a simple procedure. I KNOW things like this do happen, far more often than I'd like to think about, but it hasn't happened before to anyone that I know (or their daughter, lol).
